THE PRACTICE OF MINDFULNESS
While life is unfolding before us, we risk missing the breath and presence of the Holy One if we cannot slow down our speed and be present now. Spiritual teachers of all religious traditions have taught that the only way to really know God, to apprehend God, is to be aware of God’s presence in the moment.

            MINDFULNESS MOVEMENTS
            In these
mindful movements developed by Thich Nhat Hanh, we may just
find ourselves
opening up to the wonder of our own lives and to the
miracle of the Holy One's
presence in us.

            TAKING REFUGE IN GOD
When we take an in-breath, or when we
release our out-breath, or when we take a step, we are taking refuge in
God
because the only truth of God we can know is what is to be found in
this present
moment.

            FINDING THE KINGDOM OF GOD
            When we are able to
find the kingdom of God in the present moment, we
have the opportunity to dwell
in peace. We have the opportunity to
become still from all the anxiety, chaos,
fear, and worry that wind
 tight around us.

            THE ENERGY OF MINDFULNESS
The concept of mindfulness that is written about so
widely these days
is sometimes superficially tied to the idea of living in
the
moment. But mindfulness is not a superficial concept; it is meant to help us
recognize that it is only in this
moment that we can be truly alive.
